Transition from IBM to Dassault

July 10, 2008

What is transition?

As a current CATIA, SmarTeam or ENOVIA customer, you are now able to transition the ALC (Annual License Charge) that you are currently paying IBM to Dassault/Mecanica.

Why is this occurring?

Since January 2007, IBM no longer has an exclusive agreement with Dassault Systèmes to market these solutions. You are now able to purchase your ALC as well as new products directly from Dassault Systèmes through Mecanica Solutions.

What are the benefits?

Mecanica has transitioned many customers and some of the key benefits our customers have found are the following:

Streamlining your configurations and products by dropping unneeded products, migrating to configurations with lower ALCs or using shareable products.

Migrating from CATIA V4 or V5 to more complete PLM Express packages that include SmarTeam, STEP and Knowledgeware which will enable a smoother transition to V6.

Receiving basic technical support services from Mecanica Solutions as part of your ALC along with access to all major releases, services packs and hot fixes. IBM and others only offer this type of support at an extra cost.

Receiving a single invoice from Mecanica Solutions outlining the products with clear descriptions that match what you purchased.

Aligning your product anniversary dates so you won’t be getting multiple invoices throughout the year.

What about the ALC payments you have already made?

As part of the transition, you will cancel your ALC with IBM and they will issue a refund check for the unused portion of your ALC.

How do you get started?

Simply let us know that you are interested in exploring the transition and we will start by looking at your current license configurations as well as your overall requirements and then we will make recommendations. We will then provide you with a detailed, no-obligation quote for your review which includes all of the requirements.
